Roman Melnik was heavily involved in LGBT activism and filmed many LGBT protest acts in St. Petersburg, volunteered at the Coming Out group and the Side by Side film festival, and was part of the center Action team. His photos are his own view of the events that took place in St. Petersburg's action art from 2010 to 2015.
Roman's photos can be used to trace the chronology of events, the changing mood, intensity, and variety of protest acts from year to year. A lot has happened during this time, new personalities, participants, and organizations emerged.
Roma passed away in February 2021, and this virtual exhibition is our memory and gift from a good friend, colleague, and teammate! This photo was taken at the opening of the exhibition "5 Years of Fighting" at the Festival "A Week Together" in 2015.
